A beautiful Moscow Iconography School painting around 1870-1880.
The icon is hand painted over a tiny leaf of gold on a wooden board in kovcheg (recess) by tempera.
The last photo shows the icon after a professional conservation.

Icons with images of Arch. Michael and St George became difficult to get these days and the situation will get even worse, because now a new vast market opened up in Russia itself and its start taking the lead in buying Russian antiques back, and the prices in Russia itself, for the first time ever, are getting a head of prices else where.
